Past Crochet Creations

Today I thought it would be a great idea to show some of my past crochet pieces from back in the day. I started crocheting back in 2007, after stumbling across Twinkie Chan's awesome designs! I bought my first crochet hook and some worsted weight yarn the next day and began my adventure in the world of crochet.

At first all I made was small amigururmi creatures (because it was the easiest thing to make!) like a Winnie the Pooh Russian doll and a voo doo pin cushion. I made soo many dolls that my room was overflowing with amigurumi creatures (good and evil)! So I opened a etsy shop a year later (I'm a fast leaner) and decided to sell some of amigurumi dolls. I took a short break (busy with school) then reopened my shop in 2009, where I started selling more items such as sleeping masks and bow ties. Last year after finishing school I decided to "officially" run my shop like a mini business and started selling more pieces that I've wanted to sell (animal themed goodness!). That's about it.

Sorry for the background story but I felt like it was necessary. Anyway are my crochet projects I've made in the past and their stories.

These are blythe doll animal hats that I made for my blythe dolls. I planned on making human sized animal hats but I never did. Hopefully I can make some of these hats this Fall.

My sister made these two but I wanted to include them in here because they are so cute!

Close up at the cookie.

I crocheted the heart in the middle with some rainbow wool and turned it into a mini heart pillow. The other two are my two creatures that I sewed. Sadly, the one on the left "died" (I needed stuffing!).

Bunnies! I made these bunnies for Easter a few years ago. I still have some of them laying around.

Probably my favorite set I ever made, so far! My favorite is the mashed potatoes!

I never sold any of these animal water bottle cozies so if any of you want one let me know!

The first ever sleep masks I ever made. Inspired by "Breakfast at Tiffany's"!

This is my version of the oh so famous Holly Golightly sleep mask from "Breakfast at Tiffany's". I have one myself and love it! Modeled by my lovely sister!

More sleep masks. Sleepy, bed time, and zzz...

Another piece modeled by my sister (and her beautiful hair). I actually plan on posting a pattern on how to make these hair bow ties because they are to simple to make. Let me know if you guys would like to see a post on that.

Oh the memories... I love looking back at my past work and seeing how much I've improved. I wanted to post more pictures of my really old crochet amigurumi but I couldn't find any good photos. Maybe I'll retake some pictures and do another post.

My Recent Creations

A few weeks ago I wanted to get some long awaited DIY projects done and finally I got them all done! Today I am going to share with you those craft projects. You may have seen some of these already but if you haven't here they are. Enjoy!

I've had this clear plastic case for my phone for a while and had plan to deco out but had no inspiration then I ran into So Totally Lame's blog and fell in love with her cases! She made a Kyary Pamyu Pamyu inspired case for one of her follower's and knew that I had to make one myself. She made the case inspired by Kyary's "Pon Pon Pon" video but I made one inspired by everything that reminds me of Kyary. I made all of the pieces on the case out of clay. I really loved the way the case came out (Even though it's kind of messy, but hey it's my first decoden case ever!) expect more decoden from me soon!

I made a post on spike headbands last month but had no luck finding one... So I finally decided to make one myself. I even show you how to DIY a spike headband yourself here. My only advice is to add lots of pressure when adding the spikes to the headband, you may even want to use a stronger glue if you have some laying around.

I originally made this as the header for my blog but I ended up using a different picture as the header. This picture now hangs in my soon-to-be craft room.

I made this To Do list printable that you can hang in your room, office, refrigerator, etc. all you have to do is print the page out here!

Since I had a lot of clay I wanted to make some decoden pieces (for some upcoming projects!). For some reason I have a lot of brown clay so I made some chocolate truffles and turned them into rings. They look so real I want to eat them! hehe

I'm planning on selling some crochet rings soon so keep your eyes open they may be up sooner then you think!
Well those are all of my craft creations that I've done in the past few weeks. Take a look at the DIY's that I posted and let me know if you end up making any of them. Stay tune for a shop update coming up very soon!

Teen Vogue Birchbox

This month's Birchbox is super special because it's brought to you by Teen Vogue! Last month Birchbox gave a option to their subscribers to either receive the regular monthly birchbox or to get a limited edition Teen Vogue birchbox, that includes party-ready beauty picks chosen by Teen Vogue's beauty guru Eva Chen, for the month of March guess which one I picked! I'm not sure if everybody got the same thing in the Teen Vogue box but I really loved this box and it totally makes up for last month's box, which was kind of disappointing.

TeenVogue box overview

List of products

Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint in Amused Full-size, $24
"This long-lasting stain adds rich pigment and is designed to boost the moisture levels in your lips." I heard so much about this lip stain that I almost bought one once so I'm very glad that they included this in the box. The color itself is very close to my natural lip color so when I apply it on it makes my lips look nice and juicy without looking too bright.

Shiseido Pureness Oil-Control Blotting Papers 100 sheets $18
"These mattifying tissues are coated with transparent rice powder to leave your skin perfectly shine-free." A few years ago I use to go through blotting papers like crazy! I had very oily skin but throughout the years of testing out hundreds of skincare products I finally turned my skin from oily to normal (not to oily and not even dry!). I still get the occasionally oily spots here and there so I will be keeping these in my purse just in case.

Annick Goutal Petite Cherie Full-size, $85
"A blend of fresh fruity notes and musk, this French fragrance is the definition of understated chic." This is a fresh yet noticeable smell that will remind you of Spring instantly.

Essie Luxeffects in Set in Stones Full-size, $8
"Layer this glittery top coat onto any polish for an eye-catching look." One word, LOVE! This polish is a disco ball melted to create a nail polish. Perfect for parties or just a fun night out with your gals! Full review coming soon.

Twistband Hair Tie 12 pack, $18
"Give your ponytail a makeover with these colorful, snag-free elastics."Another one? I first got one of these hair ties back in my August birchbox (a black one). I still don't see why people rave about this it's just a hair tie. Unless there is another way to use them, any tips?

ModCloth Gift Card
Take $10 off any purchase of $75 or more on ModCloth! Probably won't use this, as much as I like ModCloth I think their clothes are too overpriced.

Thanks to Teen Vogue for making this month's box awesome! Subscribe to them if you haven't already.

Well that's it for this month. I really loved this box because I got to not one but two full size products that I know I'm going to use. The other two things are a nice to have just in case of a emergency or something. I don't think I'm going to use the ModCloth gift card and I'm already subscribed to Teen Vogue. Still, I really like this box and I'm so glad that I decided to get the Teen Vogue box.

Did you choose the March birchbox or the Teen Vogue one? and what did you get?

DIY Spike Headband

You guys remember last month when I did a post on the "liberty" spike headband? Well I found some places where you can buy them such as, Urban Outfitters, Ebay, Hot Topic, and I heard that they sell some at Forever 21 but I haven't seen any yet. You can also get the exacted same headbands that they used in Dream High 2 here (Thanks KakaBubb for the tip!). z

Since the spike is still pretty new they're kind of pricey so I decided to make my own spike headband for much cheaper.

You will need a headband (I used a pink faux leather one), a glue glue, glues sticks, a pen, and of course spikes (I used 20mm ones but you can use whatever size you want.).

Next measure out how far apart you want your spikes to be (Mine are 1 inch apart). Then, with a pen mark where the spikes will go. After that use a glue gun to add a glob of hot glue over the marks and quickly place a spike on top of the glue before the glue dries. Push the spike down to add pressure so that the spikes stay in place. Repeat until you have added however many spikes you want on your headband.

Tada! You are done!

I love how the headband came out and this project costed me less then 10 dollars to make! I totally want to make more in different colors. I hope you enjoyed this DIY. Let me know if you give it a try!

February Favorites

Today I will be sharing my favorite makeup and skincare products from February. I didn't have that many random favorites so I'm just going to do makeup and skincare products this time but hopefully next month I will be able to share some random favorites with you guys.

MISSHA Perfect Cover BB Cream: Best repurchase ever! I'm so glad that I bought this BB cream once again (It's like falling in love all over again!) I can already feel my skin healing renewing itself! I did a full review on this BB cream so if you are interested you can check it out here.

EOS Lip Balm in Strawberry Sorbet: I love these little sphere lip balms! This is my third that I've bought (I want to try every flavor!) and so far it's my favorite flavor and scent. I'm going to get the mint one next!

MAC Viva Glam Lipstick in Nicki: When I first saw swatches for the Nicki Minaj MAC lipstick I knew that I had to get it and I'm so glad I did it's my favorite lipstick that I've purchased in a long time. I love how strong the color turns out on my lips with just one swipe! Full review along with swatches here.

ELF Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder: This is a way cheaper alternative for the NARS Orgasm/Laguna duo. I mainly use the blush but it doesn't stay on that long so I apply a coral cream blush first and then layer this blush over my cheeks to set the cream blush and make the powder blush stay on longer. I love this combination so much that I use it daily.

Laura Geller Baked Blush-n-Brighten in Honey Dipped: When I first got this I was so excited that I had gotten a full size product in my Birchbox but then after a few months of not using it I decided to use it to slightly contour my cheekbones. Now it's one of my favorite products that I use daily. You can get it from the Birchbox website here.

I had tons of sheet masks lying around so I decided to use them in February to see which ones I would like so that I could purchase a full set of sheet mask. I love sheet masks (well besides the part of looking like a ghost!) and especially the after effects! These were my top three sheet masks that I used and loved.

Dr. Morita Pearl, Barley, & Mulberry Whitening Essence Mask: I got this randomly in a swap and I am so glad that I had the chance to try tout this mask. The sheet was kind of big but I that's ok because the results I got afterwards were amazing! My face was not only soft and smooth but my face appeared so bright and made me look awake afterwards. And unlike other sheet masks, where the effects usually last one or two days, the results of this sheet mask lasted for about a week! This was my favorite out of the three but I have no idea where I can buy this! If any of you guys know where I can buy this mask please please let me know!

My Beauty Diary Earl Grey Tea & Macaron Sheet Mask: I was so intrigued by this mask when I first saw it (I mean, earl grey tea and macarons!) and the packing is uber cute too! I had two of these masks so I got to try it two times unlike the other mask. I loved the smell, it cleared my skin a bit, and it made my skin pretty smooth but it didn't brighten my skin that much.

My Beauty Diary Bulgarian White Rose Mask: I also had two these and the name sounds kind of glamours too (like taking a bath in Bulgarian white rose petals or something...). This one did brighten my skin a lot for at least two or three days. It also made my skin feel soft and the smell wasn't bad either.

Both the My Beauty Diary mask gave me pretty much the same results but my overall favorite was the Dr. Morita mask. I'm planing on purchasing a full box set on one of the My Beauty Diary sheet mask soon but if any of you know where I can get more of the Dr. Morita sheet mask PLEASE LET ME KNOW! I've been looking everywhere for more!

Well those are my favorite beauty and skincare products for the month of February. I already have a few favorites picked out for this month(expect more bright lipsticks!) and hopefully I can include so more random favorite like I did back in January.

Vichy Sponsored Birchbox

I got an email last month from Birchbox asking if I wanted to receive an extra birchbox sponsored by VICHY, a french skincare company, since I always love to discover new skincare products I said yes (plus who doesn't like to received free things, right?).

VICHY is a French skin care company that was developed back in 1931. Their products are allergy-tested and tested on sensitive skin to enhance skin softness. VICHY uses unique antioxidant Vichy water, rich in 15 rare minerals, combined with cutting-edge ingredients to create formulas clinically-tested under dermatological control. VICHY's goal is "To transform every skin, even the most sensitive, to reach its ideal beauty."

VICHY box overview

List of products

AQUALIA THERMAL CREAM Full-size (1.7 fl oz) $29.95
"24hr Hydrating Care. Infused with a high concentration of mineral-rich antioxidant water, this moisturizer keeps skin hydrated around the clock. Use it every morning on a clean face, alone or under makeup." This is a lightweight cream that moisturizes the skin. Not much to say about this one, yet.

LIFACTIV RHAMNOSE NIGHT Full-size (1.7 fl oz) $49.00
"Anti-Wrinkle + Firming Care. This lush night cream works its magic with Rhamnose, a plant-derived ingredient (concentrated at 5%) that helps skin renew itself. Apply a thin layer after washing your face, and don't forget your neck and decolletage." First off this cream is very thick (I feel like my skin is trapped!). I rarely use heavy products but you can tell this is very thick even before you apply the cream onto your skin.

"Laced with cornflower water and vitamin B, this uber-gentle formula thoroughly cleanses your delicate eye are. Pour a small amount onto a cotton pad and pat into skin." I only used this once and it didn't even take off my eye shadow. But I will use it a few more times before I make up my mind on this eye remover.

PURETE THERMAL 3-IN-1 ONE STEP CLEANSER Full-size (6.7 fl oz) $19.50
"A real triple threat, this unique formula works as a cleansing milk, toning lotion and a makeup remover all at once. Dab it on with a cotton pad, or smooth it directly onto your skin and rinse with water." I'm always very skeptical over 3-in-1 products because I feel like they don't claim to do anything, but we will see. First impressions?  Runny and leaves my skin feeling unsatisfied.

CELLUDESTOCK Full-size (6.7 fl oz) $39.50
"Intensive Treatment for the Appearance of Cellulite. Vichy's own Lipocidine complex teams up with caffeine to tone the skin on your thighs, hips, and derriere. Massage into your skin to zap cellulite." This is the only product I haven't use (because I don't need to.) but I'm very intrigued.

Another look at the VICHY products

This birchbox was sponsored by VICHY

You may have noticed that I did mini first impressions on each product that's because I have only been using these products for two days so far. But I keep using these products for the rest of the month and let you know if any of these products change my skin drastically in another post. To learn more about VICHY products visit their website here.

Have you guys tried any VICHY products?
